Wife and I often make a trip from Louisville, KY to Cape Girardeau, MO. She has family there, and the boys like to go visit. We pass Rend Lake every time we go as our route takes us 64W to 57S.

Since we've done a 11hr tow this year, it suddenly seems like it's not a terrible idea to drag the boat along, and try a new lake on the way home. Current thought is to leave Cape early (8-9-ish) travel to somewhere to launch on Rend. Explore a little, then off the water around 3-4pm so we can get home at a decent hour (~3hrs home from there).

Anyone have any suggestions for places to launch, things to see on the water, places to get lunch while there, things of that nature?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Searching some old threads gonna tag some folks that have posted about Rend before :) :)
