Hi. I would like to replace my stock speakers with some nice sounding budget speakers that sound better than what I have. I will be listening to music while anchored or in no wake mode. How many speakers do the AR240 generally have and are they all the same size ? Will the Kicker KM 654 with customizable LEDs be a good replacement ? The LEDs look kind of cool. Will I require a second battery to run the audio and led? My boat has only 1 battery. Appreciate the help.

Best ..

Polk db651 are a popular budget drop in. Stock is two pair, one in now and one in aft cabin area. I added a set mid cabin also and they sound great

How many kicker kms do I need overall? Do I need to install a second battery to power the led lights?

4 will replace the stock speakers. No extra battery will be needed but depending on how you plan to use the lights you may need to buy the Kicker Led controller as well. I only used the blue lights in them so I didn't need it but if you want all four colors you likely will need it.

Thanks @robert843 . I will try to attempt the same. I should not have any issues in hooking up the speakers. Hooking up the LEDs is a different ball game for me ( newbie ). Will still give it a shot.

It should be pretty easy. the Led part can be easy or hard depending on how you tackle it. I tapped into my courtesy light so that switch powers them but once again I only hooked up one color.

one final dumb question...does the LED strip have an adhesive back ? Or you need to use something like super glue to hold it in place?

If your talking about the Kicker LED speakers they come all set up nothing to do but hook up wires everything is already installed.

talking about the LED light strips that you had put on your boat . They look pretty cool.

Oh yes those had a 3m adhesive strips on the back just make sure you clean the area really well before applying or the will come off later. You just cut to length on the cut line and stick them on. They do require soldering wires to them unless you buy the solder less kit but that kit is not really recommended for a marine application.

Here is the thread where I asked a bunch of questions before I did it. This should answer most questions you have about the install.

Amar,
The Kickers speakers are definitely good....independent of the review.
This topic has come up before. The TopTenReviews is a total scam.
What idiot would use a 20 Hz sine wave on a 6.5" coaxial speaker. What anechoic chamber is rated down to 20 Hz. Besides being total B.S. these people know less than zero.
Comparing speakers with this review is useless.

Thank you David. I appreciate the input. I have zero knowledge as far as speakers are concerned. I am not an audiophile and looking for decent good speakers that I can use when I anchor my boat or go in no wake mode. Which site can provide an honest review? Or which ones are good?
