So I am taking the plunge and ordered Seadek for the whole boat this year with the current group buy going on. My Hydro Turf is still in decent shape and I thought I would try to reuse pieces of it on the trailer. I know it mostly depends on how big of sections it comes off the boat but has anyone tried this? What type of glue did you use and did it hold up? My boat/trailer is stored outdoors so I know the life would be diminished but if I can save enough pieces it might be worth it. Thanks.

I had to remove some OEM pieces from my seadoo (maybe more rubberized mat? a thinner version of hydro turf) and with a heat gun, the two large sections I needed to pull came out in one piece. Not sure what glue was used. I've found heat helps immensely to break down glue. (Used a heat gun to remove a formica backsplash, and it felt as if it melted that glue to butter, and came off MUCH easier than without the heat) There is a Heat Gun at harbor freight usually for $13 or less depending on sales/coupons. My only regret is I did not buy it sooner. It has been extremely useful.

Where would you be using it?

You can buy the adhesive hydro turf uses from hydro turf in Southern California, I think it's just rubber cement. I've put hydro turf on my trailers for non skid purposes but I went with new material not used. I recommend that you see how much material you will be able to reuse before buying any adhesive. If you don't have much but still want to put hydro turf on consider buying the precut trailer kits or a sheet from hydro turf with self adhesive backing in either case.

If you get pieces that will work...you can attach them with contact cement. Just make sure to clean both surfaces good then apply it to both surfaces, and then let dry before putting them together (like 5min...read can). You will only get one shot, so place them exactly where you want them the first time....no re-positioning.

Not sure exactly yet but probably 1 on the tongue and 1 on each rail just behind the fork. I saw someone welded a step or 2 to the winch post so if I do that I will add there as well.
After recovering the boat I usually come off the bow and the rails get slick sometimes with wet feet.

When I take it off this winter I will see what condition it is in. If the bottom is good I will try it. If not I might by some pieces.

Thought about that but didn't know if it would hold up. Then again nothing will to the weather over time. If I can save enough pieces I can always save for spares. Thanks

Order the Sea Dek grab bags for $4.95 it has circular, rectangular pieces you can use on the trailer

I replaced some no-skid tape that came on the trailer with and put it most places you can step that way. It has been on there 3 yrs and trailer is stored in the weather with no issues so far.
