ok I am new to the site and new to jet boating. You will probably got that from my question :)
I just got the 2017 Yamaha 242x and I installed the thrust vectors.
After installation I tried to drop the reverse gates in the obvious way, pulling back on the throttles and they do not drop. Although I pushed the throttles forward as directed in the instructions, I can't say that I noticed whether it changed the gates anyway. All I do know is that they are definitely in the full up position and don't move down with the throttles. I tried starting the engines although I assume it's mechanical and didn't need power but still nothing.
The gates aren't bound at all and wiggle with the normal play and the nozzles move freely and I triple checked the install of the thrust vectors and can't see any complication. It's a pretty easy install after all. The spacers are seated correctly and with those in place I can't see that the nozzle could be bound by the bolts anyway.
Any knowledge from the community would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to not have reverse if I bring it to the lake to try it out.
Bottom line - Are the gates supposed to operate with a simple movement of the throttles? The throttles still move smoothly without any binding.

Thanks
Dustin

If you have a 242x then the throttles are electronic controls, not traditional cables. Moving them with the engine off won't adjust the gates like the standard cables controls do.

Ok thanks AndyD I did start the motor but I put the throttle back in neutral. If I want to view it I suppose I could just turn the key off with the throttle in reverse ?

Should be able to I would think. I don't know 100% for sure though.
