All,

I have a Scarab 165 HO and experience some problems with the bilge pump. The bilge pump worked a few days ago, but today it is dead. When I manually try to start the pump nothing happens. The red light on the Bilge pump switch in the helm is not going on when I turn on the switch. All other switches are working and the red light are on when switching. I have tried to change the bilge pump fuse (C3) in the helm of the boat, but did not help. I know it is another fusebox close to the battery, but which fuse goes to the bilge pump (if any)?

As the red light is not on i suspect it must be something wrong with a connection before the pump. Anyone have any idea on what I should do to continue to locate the problem?

Kind regards,

Peter

the bilge fuse is directly wired to the battery on mine. it's one of the circled fuses in the picture.
where's the helm fuses?

Thanks. Will check those. The helm fuses are under the cocpit cover, but that is only «auto bilge pump».

Bilge pumps aren't very complicated (in theory lol). But one possibility is that it's clogged. If it is, it could keep burning any new fuse you put in. I'd start by verifying this at this point. You can actually rotate the intake nozzle of the yellow bilge (the last 1/3 that points towards the stern). That will allow you to see if anything is stuck on the screen filter where the water goes in. It's unlikely that it would be clogged anywhere else.

You're sure the new fuse you put in (of the correct amperage) was working? Is the wiring from the bilge pump properly connected (follow the wires and make sure they are attached)?

Thank you. Pump was not clogged and all fuses are ok. Will check the cable to the switch tomorrow.

Mine constantly gets fouled.
Have taken to wet vacuuming the deck and around the bilge pump before washing down. Also have had to backwash with a hose into the exit port to get the auto to kick in. Also experienced bilge switch problems.
