Hi what type of fuel is everyone using in the scarab impulse model with supercharger?
 
I've read it doesn't matter . But after talking to the service tech at the dealer , he recommended premium . He said in a pinch you can run lower octane , but primarily use 93 .
So I run premium .
 
I've got a 215 with dual 250s. I use 87 octane with zero problems. Runs 58 mph no problem.
 
I run 87 Octane because my marina doesn't carry premium gas. The computer will compensate for lower and higher octanes, but I feel the most important thing I do is use a good additive that deals with ethanol and water in the gas. I primarily use Sta-bil 360 marine. In the past I've used others, but I like the sta-bil marine and it's easy for me to get. I had some issues in the past with power and the BRP tech said when they tested the fuel it had a high water content. Since I've been using an additive, no issues.
 
From what the tech explained to me is the flashpoint of the higher octane is better for the supercharger and the components . It doesn't increase performance .
 
Hmm, is anyone using an octane booster after they fill up with regular?
 
If you are using gas station pump gas, premium has the least amount of ethanol added. 1% or less usually. Regular has 10%. That's why it says "up to 10% ethanol added".

If you can't get ethanol free, premium is pretty dang close. I'd use ethanol free at a lower grade if available as my first choice, then premium. Regular if nothing else is available. Just don't do a long storage with regular.

The ecu will adjust for the octane rating.
 
For maximum performance, especially on hot summer day, the best would be to use premium gasoline.
It's correct to say that the ECU will be adjusting, but it will be doing so by reducing timing advance thus lowering the power output & reducing engine efficiency.
The ECU will also be correcting, via the O2 sensors, for the ethanol content in the gasoline.
Therefore no need to pay extra for NON Ethanol gasoline, pump gas premium is the way to go.
