Wanted to share my experience with the 2019 Scarab 195 Open ID. We had been looking for months at boats and wanted something to surf behind but also had fishing capability. We narrowed our search down to Scarab 195 open id ( we loved the tail gate) and the Yamaha 210 fsh sport. We went through the financing process at the dealership and then headed out for the test drive of the Scarab. Beautiful boat and it would have fit in our garage a real bonus. The test drive at the dealership was a real let down. The boat had 300hp rotax engine and had plenty of power but after about 10 minutes the low oil pressure light and warning alarm went on and the boat went into limp mode. This was a brand new boat no hours on the engine. We had to leave the boat with the mechanic and wait for the call from the manager. A few days later we were advised that the boat needs a new engine. I was blown away needless to say we aren't buying the boat. A few days later we took delivery of a 2020 Yamaha 210 fsh sport. We like the 2 engines its not as powerful as the Scarab with the 300hp but Yamaha will be more reliable in the long run. I can just imagine if the engine failure happened after we took delivery of the Scarab, we would have been stuck with waiting for an engine and lost all the summer without the use of a boat. This was such a crazy experience I really wanted to share this in case there are other boaters on the fence about what boat manufacture to go with.
