Scarab 195

Bought a 2014 195 with 16 hours on it in May of 2016. By June of 2016 never took delivery of the boat and was told by dealer that the engine was no good so I told them I am making payments on a boat I don't have. So they took it back and put me in a new 2015 195 for the same money. I took the new boat out end of June 16 and when I turn steering wheel loud hearing noise. Dealer says bad bearing and crack in housing. August 2016 boat still at dealer waiting on new part. I would not recommend Scarab at all to anyone I know. Horrible boat for the money and brp doesn't back up there boats with parts availability.

Seems odd that you were makin payments on the 2014 before you took delivery . Did the dealer give any other info on the 2014 besides "engine was no good "?
The 2015 you took delivery without a sea trial ?

Marine Max had to give us a captain's orientation so when they got the boat from one of there other dealers it was 2 weeks until we could take delivery of it. A day before we took delivery I was called and told it wasn't running right and needed a throttle position sensor and it was on back order so 3 weeks later they put it in and the boat still didn't run right so that's how I made a payment before we took position. Then that's when the dealer got us the 2015 when I told them I was contacting an attorney.

All they told me is that it was the housing below the bearing in the propulsion system and when they looked it up it was NLA part. Then BRP called them and said it was redesigned, and that how it is left as of now.

Thats nuts @Bernie . I feel for you man. Please keep us posted on what happens. The more of these threads we have , the more ammunition our community has to force a change in their practices.

We did the sea trial and didn't hear the noise until we drive the boat for 10 hours and paid for the first service.

If the issue is the pump, then its an easy 2 hour (maybe faster) fix. The boat uses the standard 159mm pump thats available in the RX line of skis. I can probably get you all the pump information and part numbers. Tell them all these parts are readily available, and to get off their ass.

I have been on the phone with both boat issues and was told that's why they have a warranty to fix issues like this but in the meantime the boat just sits

I'm sorry but call in the attorney if that is an option. This is either made up or worth standing up for. So this may be an easy fix, but what happens when it is a hard fix? Yes, you should run from a 2014, a 2015 is less scary although you do t want the one that is broken as their way of exchanging. I would look for a 2017 scarab or Newer(?) and not a new model. That or a well supported Yamaha, searay, moomba, doral, etc.
