I have the plastic scupper out of the boat and am ready to install the stainless one. Problem is, I have some 5200 and some StarBrite marine silicone. No 4200, and everything near me is closed.

Which of these would be better to use? It seemed that Yamaha used regular silicone?

Use the silicone. You will be fine.

Personally, I will use 4200 or 5200 on mine because I will never have to remove it.

If your 5200 was opened before, it's sure to be bad by now.

I would also suggest the 5200. The 5200 is excellent but takes 7 days to cure. That why most of us use the 4200. I know that yamaha used silcone very where but it is not actually rated for below water applications. I have also had good luck with sicaflex which is very simial to 4200 except clear and comes in larger tubes. That is what I plan to use when I redo the impeller intake tunnels. Cam.

I used 4200. For whatever reason I liked the idea that it could be removed if need be. However, I don't see why I would ever have to remove it. I think I would go with 5200 before I went with silicone. Silicone seems to break down after a few years. If your not comfortable with it being permanent wait and get 4200.

I have good luck storing my used 4200 and 5200 tubes in a heavy ziplock bag. It seems to add just enough extra air sealant to preserve it. Cam.
