Sea Choice vs Slide Anchor brand box anchors

My Slide Anchor box anchor was stolen and I need to replace it. Im finding that particular brand is out of stock everywhere for the galvanized small box.

The Sea Choice brand appears to be available - is there any difference in quality? Anyone have the Sea Choice brand box anchor? Thanks

I was looking at that as well. The reviews seemed to be bad so I hesitated.

Email slide anchor and ask whats in stock. I got a painted spike that wasn't on their site at all.

I had the Slide Anchor on my 2006 SX230 that I sold a few weeks ago that got included with the sale.

I went to buy another one for my 242 Limited S and, as the OP found out, they’re on back order.

I didn’t want to wait so I ordered the Sea Choice version. The quality of the Slide Anchor one is better. It deploys and collapses easily and the bracket that holds it “square” is pretty easy to maneuver. I had to spray oil in the hinges of the Sea Choice to get it loosened up and the bracket that holds in the deployed position was stiff and was a little bit of a chore to get it in the correct spot. I decided to not fold it up and it sits under the front port side lounge bench. Takes up a bit of space but it’s not too bad. You’ll definitely want to replace the bolt that goes through the shackle on the Sea Choice version - it was loose right out of the box. I went to the hardware store and got a bolt and lock nut which worked great. The Slide Anchor shackle was tight but I replaced it just to be sure.

Other than that they are pretty much the same, a square hunk of metal with teeth on it.

If you are going to want to fold it up I’d wait for the Slide Anchor version.

I had a sea choice danforth style anchor. Went to pull it up one day...started pulling it up and very quickly the pull got really easy. Pulled up the connection ring and the arm it hooks to, rest of the anchor was missing. Welds (what little of them there was when looking atit) that connected the arm to the anchor broke. SeaChoice quality doesn't seem good to me.

Edit: with that said, I ended up buying the WindRider box anchor through Amazon and am happy with it so far. Said it would be 2 weeks delivery, but shipped and arrived in 4 days.

Just make sure you replace the bolt that holds the shackle and you’ll be fine.

If Sea Choice is the same knock-off brand that sells on Amazon and has the bad reviews I'd skip it.

Well, I got lucky and was able to locate almost all of my stuff today and the anchor was part of what was recovered so Im good to be able to stick with my slide anchor and keep enjoying it! Thanks for the replies

Well, my storage unit was burglarized and it was along with other items that were stolen out of my boat. It was just most expensive item luckily.
