New to this site with major seat problems. I've got a 2012 limited s and all my seats are torn at seams. Looks awful. So bad I'm embarrassed to take it out. Has anyone had to get their seats reupholstered or bought new ones?

Lots of people have had their boats repaired or reupholstered. If you add your location to your profile, there may be someone local who can recommend a shop.

And, we love pictures. :)

I'm from southeastern NC and I got an estimate to reupholster all seats and backs and the quote I got was $9300. I felt that was entirely to high. Anyone with any suggestions in my area would be appreciated. All the seats are similar to this.image.jpeg

Holy cow! That turns my stomach! Those seats are jacked? Did u treat them regularly? Wad the boat covered? There are several members in nc... I am in the raleigh area.... I don't know of any upholstery places up here.... haven't needed any... yet

Yes it was cleaned worse case every other time out. Problems started when I took it to be stored for the winter supposedly inside and they left it out all winter under pine trees. I complained but all they would do was not charge me for storage. Boy did I lose in that one. They said I didn't pay for inside storage even though it was on the ticket.

O M G! I see a law suit over that one... they cost u 10 grand! Ouch.... u said southeast nc... I'm thinking it was Jacksonville or wilmington ... that really sucks.... I mean... really sucks. There may be some lawyers or other in the legal profession that can advise u better than I can but dang.

I live in Whiteville but took it to Wilmington. The seats started dry rotting about mid summer of 2014 but I have also talked to other people with yamahas who are having similar problems. Seats are cheap. I actually spoke with a lawyer but since the seats were not torn when I picked it up it would be hard to argue. Just trying to get out of this as cheaply as possible but with a good job.

I'll try to add more pictures tomorrow

Have you tried making a claim with your boat insurance company?

I'd expect to pay up to $4 to $6k if all the or most of the seats look like the one pictured and I'd have extra cushioning put into the front of the bolster so that it would provide more cushion when it is up.

I'm not advocating or recommending any specific course of action if your insurance doesn't cover this but I heard a firemen once threaten a tire shop once with, "I'm off 8 of every 12 days, if you don't make this right and I will be down here with a poster board starting tomorrow telling every one who tries to walk in here my story." That moved him to the top of the list and the shop resolved his problem that day. I'd bet thae shop you worked with would like to avoid any negative yelp reviews and/or complaints to the BBB or local news station's consumer advocate representative, if any. Good luck going forward.
