I'm about to install a Simrad G07 Nav on my 2015 AR240. As of now, I'm not installing the TotalScan and the install looks very straight forward. I was reading the install manual and this unit has the yellow Power Control wire which is optional to connect (says to common the yellow with red after fuse) if you want the unit to automatically power up when power is on versus leaving it disconnected and having to turn the unit on.

So, is there a noticeable benefit of one approach versus the other? For those who have it installed, which route did you take? I'm thinking to connect it since I'd expect to have it on 99% of the time I have the boat turned on. However, if we're say parked at a sandbar or restaurant listing to the radio, it probably doesn't need to be just to be on. Thoughts?

I have the power control wire hooked up, so my simrad turns on when the key turns on, and vice versa. I did it this way more to ensure that I never left it powered on after leaving the boat than anything else. You can manually power down and back on if you're hanging out somewhere for awhile and don't want to waste the power, but it doesn't draw that much anyway.

I dont like it powered with key since i remove it when i put cover on the boat.
I like having it on 100% of the time once i rurn it on. I wouldnt want it to turn off when i shut down the engines. Main reason being, i put a cursor on the screen once i set anchor. That way i can tell if i the anchor is set 100%
