I recently installed an XM radio on my 2005 AR 230. Where is the best location to mount the antenna? Is it
water proof? Where did you mount your XM Antenna & how is the reception? Should I mount it on top
of the wake board tower?

Thanks! Steven

As long as you have a clear view to the sky you should be fine.

I'd mount it on top of the center console.....try this location before permanently mounting it to ensure adequate SIGnal strength at the receiver input.

Tough to beat the Shakespeare satellite radio antenna.
A popular mounting location is on the deck cap forward of the windshield...but well clear of an open windshield. This way it is hard for a bimini, tower or much else to interfere with reception regardless of the boat's angle or position relative to the satellite.
The satellite radio stream is about as thick as a pencil lead.
Sat. radio transmits through glass and fiberglass, however, being passed through at an angle or through really thick materials will create problems. At an angle materials do appear thicker and can cause problems. This is one more reason to move the antenna out from under the windshield.
Up on the tower is really not necessary.

I used a Shakespeare SRA-25 antenna and mounted next to the antenna (puck) for stock speedo...
