Hi all.

I found a smart mat for sale in the classifieds for 500$, im the box and never used.

Go or no go ?!?

The Seadek dealer here does not have the pattern done so it would be 31$ / sq feet, which is probably more than 450-500$. (Anyone have the sq feet measure for a 195?)

PS : all in $CAD

Thanks

I would say go for it. For 500 bucks it's worth it. It looks and feels great but it can get a bit hot on your feet but like I said I think it's worth 500 dollars.

@JetBoatPilot likely has the pattern but I doubt it would be less than $500.

At $31 a square foot a 2'x9' piece would be $500. That highway robbery makes us realize what a great deal @JetBoatPilot gives us!

@Yan Masse, that sounds like a reason to tow to Bimini and take your boat home with your full list of upgrades installed.

I Would say save your $$$ and order the seadek! I got the seadek from jetboat pilot, all said and done with the exchange it was around $1400 for my 215HO. It makes a huge difference from the standard carpet. my understanding is the Scarab mat traps dirt and tends to pull up. it does look nice though!seadek.jpg

I feel strongly about this topic, so here is my 0.02.

That new Sea-Mat (or whatever it is called) -- snap-on SeaDek-like mats are not that great, IMO. I looked at it very carefully during one of my visits to a dealer. I have a lot of reservations:
  • it will get dirty and it will mold (underneath) if left wet
  • hard(er) to wash and dry and transport, even more so than the original carpet
  • does not seem as nice and plush (or thick) as SeaDek
  • uses tall snaps

I can see how some boaters would like it. Not me.
I would have a close look before committing to it. On the other hand, you will only hear good things about SeaDek, for a reason.

I think Yamaha is making a big mistake furnishing all new boats with those mats.

SeaDek is the better way to go... As far as square feet, I would have to ask @JetBoatPilot.

The Seadek does look great but like Masse said, the exchange and duties makes it so hard to make big purchases from the states the way the Canadian dollar is.
