Southeast lakes for Spring Break 2024?

Looking to head south from Ohio in late March with 10 of us and the boat. Looked at Lake Lanier in GA, but water temps at -~60 that time of year. Too cold to play. Any suggestions!?

I would go to the gulf that time of year. Water temps are usually in the low 70’s. We stayed on Oskaloosa island a few years back, wet slipped the boat and had a great time.

Lake Lanier is the further south lake I would swim in. Any further south and they're really just snake and gator homes and drainage ponds. They're fine to look at, but I wouldn't swim in them.

I second the gulf, it'll be nice and warm and nice water too.

Yikes!! We Yankees don’t think about what could be swimming in lakes in the south.
