Due to poor planning my family didn't get on the water today. We hiked Mission Peak near Fremont, CA instead. 7.5 miles round trip, I think the max. elevation is in the 2,000 foot range. The high was 75 degrees. If I looks like I did this with a quad copter strapped to my back that's because I did. No $300 pelican case for me, a back pack and two bungee cords worked just fine. I'll post an edited video in a few days/weeks for now, here is a clip (1 of 3).

That's awesome. Love my quadcopter. I need to take it to the island we always anchor at, I bet I could get some great videos with my gopro.

Quadcopter looks awesome.. Any recommendations ? $500 budget that I can connect my goPro too.

I've always thought it'd be cool to have one out at Shell Island.

glad you got out for the day, thanks for sharing the video

This is the one I recommend in that price range. You can get it a little cheaper if you don't want the extras like the optional gopro camera mounts and blade guards but this is less than half the price of their Phanton 2 Vision but comes with more than half of the features of its bigger brother.

Incidentally, I didn't want to carry my Phantom 2 up the mountain yesterday so I took my son's Phantom 1 with a gopro 3 (white edition) mounted to it instead. Its pretty much the same as the quadcopter I recommend below just without the DJI camera. What I like about it is that it is a little lighter and less complex since it does not have a separate display (smart phone or tablet) on which to see what the copter sees or to be used for camera control or telemetry (e.g. battery condition) reception.

Yeah I already have Go Pro Black edition with a lot of mounts/covers. So yeah something that I could just pop that on would be the best fit.

You tricked me Ronnie! I thought you were putting in a plug for Seaworthy Speakers, the stock speakers Yamaha used up until 2013, when they switched to Polk DB651's. I have 4 (seaworthy) sitting on the workbench that will end up in a box, until I sell them or piece them out one at a time to guys that still have those speakers and have a blown one.

But I did want to say, your flight skills with those copters is amazing, along with your film editing and production. I would love to do both, but I don't seem to understand the editing, and I sure didn't understand the go pro hero 2 that I had. Maybe if I spent less time here and more time on research on those? NAW! I like jetboaters.net! Great videos and I can almost imagine myself in the copter when watching one of them...amazing.

Every time I see a quad-copter video I'm just a LITTLE bit closer to parting with my money...

Thanks guys. I brought the qua copter up there once before and didn't get the footage i wanted so i did it again yesterday. It was a lot windier than the first time so I intentionally flew farther out from others. I can tell I don't have a natural ability for riding that some members here do but I will keep trying anyway, at lest until I stop enjoying the challenge. Here is a pic my son took with his phone on the walk back down the hill. I probably won't be doing that hill again anytime soon.

I have one that I custom made that I REALLY want to bring out there. It's about 3 feet across...10" blades. I have it disassembled right now because I was upgrading the flight control board to a DJI Naza board. But I was trying to come up with a cool mount I could 3D print. I just need to zip tie it all on the frame, I don't have the time I wish I did to get it perfect. It's DEFINATELY big/powerful enough to carry a gopro (or 4) That makes me think...We have 3 at work and with mine at home, I could make a 360degree mount with 4 cameras recording....Hmmmm....All I need is time.

The DJI's are awesome. Well worth the money.
