Here you go Scarab ladies and gents. And just wait till you see the new dash, and new features of these boats.

The 255 with twin 300s was capable of 70+ mph runs.

I still think that taligate is a neat idea. I'm really curious how this layout with the tailgate works in real world usage.

The interior walls need some graphics or something. They look sparse.

I have questions:
  • Is that temp carpet in the last picture?
  • What about the seat pedestal, does that just have regular cap screws holding it down/in place?
  • The starboard rear seat is missing in pic #2, but present in pic #3.
    • How does that work?
    • Is there a place to stow it when not installed?
    • What keeps it in place while underway if someone isn't sitting in it?
  • In the center drivers seat area
    • If you're standing are the sides of the adjacent seats padded for your legs?
    • If you're sitting, do your feet reach the ground?
    • If your feet don't reach, then is there a foot rest/bar in place?
I'm headed to Scarabs website to research.

Looks like they have addressed quite a few of the issues. Really like the non plastic exhaust improvements.

Is this a good price?

I'm confused with 500 hp it could only get into the low to mid 50's now 600hp produces a 70+ mph boat I gotta be missing something.

Agreed.
My 215HO will hit 55mph going downhill, off a cliff with a tailwind.
While I love the boat, it is slower than my 09 Seadoo 200 Speedster, due IMHO to its extra weight and hull design - which just isn't as fast in the water. The Scarab definitely rides tons better though.
I think for this boat to get into the 70s it'd need not 500hp, not 600hp, probably not even 700hp would quite do it.
There's a lot of hydrodynamic force to overcome to pick up 15+ mph.
That being said, I love my boat and only very, very infrequently use anything other above 40mph...
quite often just use it in Ecomode...

@ScarabMike thanks for the video
Can't wait to try one in a Scarab 165.
Would be fun to retrofit a Speedster200 with a set of Twin Rotax ACE 300.

Agree with @robert843 I doubt a Scarab 255 will reach 70mph, I'm guessing more in the mid 60s.

I can't show my wife commercials on boats.
She alway is just like, How much equity do we have in the house?
LOL
I would LOVE to test one of these monsters on Lake Michigan on a day when it calls for 1-3 in the morning and 2-4 in the afternoon (happens a lot).
I like the idea of being 25'.
I am SURE Yamaha is paying attention.
No matter what, we will be watching so see how the horsepower war plays out!
If I am seeing it correctly, the Scarab has a 8'4" beam instead of the 8'6" maximum like Yamaha.
A narrower Hull may be helping it with speed and efficiency but can also make it rock more while sitting.

When will the 600 hp 255 be available?

My 215 HO, 500HP, does 60 MPH so I can believe 70MPH with the twin 300HPs.

Frankly, I'll believe it when I see it. . . . Consistently. BRP has come to mean Be Ready to Paddle as they try to pack more and more power into smaller and smaller packages. The Engines struggle with longevity under those stresses.

Some buddies of mine were in an Open 255 last weekend with the twin 300's. Performance East of Goldsboro has one at the water as a demo unit for a few weeks. I think they said the fastest they could get it was around 55/56 mph. But to you Scarab peeps....I thought Scarab/Rotax limited the RPMs or something for the first 10 hours? I'm pretty sure I'll be using the boat next weekend some so I'll report back. It also has the hard t-top..... Not the fabric from last year.

Are they offering the twin 300's as an option in a 215 HO?

Sure.
And then, twin 350HP will go 80mph.

Should do about 60. We can hit 56 in a 255 Open with twin 250s.

60 mph seems realistic my AR240 hits 52 mph with only 360 hp so I would imagine 600 would def get you right in that 60 ball park.

The pumps are the limiting factor. . . . Any idea what the pump size is?
