Hi everyone! New to the jetboat world, long time sailor, and super comfortable wrenching on my own engines. My wife and I stumbled across, what I would consider a good find, for a starter boat on the cheap( $1000 firm with trailer).

Everything in good shape: hull, upholstery, electronics, gas tank emptied & cleaned, new flywheel, stator, carburetor reeds, carbs cleaned and adjusted, new spark plugs. Trailer has LED’s, good tires and bunks.

BAD: Has a 1997 Mercury Sportjet 175 with bad compression on cylinders(assuming all haven't checked them yet) , will need rebuilt or swapped.

First question, good companies for engine rebuild kits, aftermarket parts, accessories, that I should be looking at? Secondly, what kind of engine swaps (preferably to increase HP and longevity) can I reliably and without too much modification, shoe-horn into this thing? Third, EFI options/mods? Lastly , any tips, tricks and pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!

Bonus question : Is this thing big enough for 4 adults in the boat? (2 of which are larger men 250+ lbs.. Lol)
