Will tightening my throttle cable in the engine bay increase my engine RPMs? At WOT the throttle cables hit the stops, but my max RPM is ~7,200 and speed is 39. The times I've tested I've been alone in Lake Huron in calm weather. It's a new boat, 10 hours. Engine oil is right where it should be. If all she can do is 7,200 rpm and 39 mph then I'm cool with it, but if there's something simple (like tightening the throttle cables) to bump up the RPMs can get a little more speed then I'll do it.

You mention the Engine oil is right where it should be? Where would that be? half way between low and mid is where it is best on our TR-1s, anything more and you bleed off RPM's. the higher you go.

You can try to tighten up the throttle cable, mine were slightly off. My max RPM's in Lake St. Clair is 7800 Starboard, 7500 Port. On a cool morning, low humidity, myself and the admiral and 1/2 tank of gas Bimini down. 43.5 mph.

Yep, halfway or even a slightly lower than half way for both engines.

I think I'll try tightening the throttle cables slightly and see what happens. I also noticed that when I push the throttle levers down I have to push them a little ways before I get a response. Maybe they just need adjustment.

Thanks!
