Transducer install

Do you think could be any problem if I install the transducer for a fishfinder on the plate under the jet? something like this:

I would refrain from this. The ride plate plays a significant part on the boat handling, planing and tracking not to mention that your transducer will now be the leading and lowest point on the boat which will take the hit of anything your run across. It's more work but a better design, if you want to install it to the ride plate, to move it to the back of the plate similar to this one. This one has been installed for almost 5 years, works flawlessly at all speeds.

This is how I did mine. I have a Garmin with side scan clearVu and traditional sonar. Haven’t had an issue.

I mounted mine port side since my boarding ladder is on the starboard side, just to reduce the chance of somebody kicking it or stepping on it. If they can, they will

I think this is a good idea, sadly my 2015 has a shorter ride plate, without the keel

Transom saver on Amazon. Comes with everything needed to scuff and install. Been on for a few months in salt water and no issues.

This is what I did, 2 seasons and no issues yet. I think I affixed it with 4200.

I see a Garmin transducer. What unit did you go with? I did the Garmin Striker 7SV. I swear my transducer is almost a foot long lol

I am just doing the same as this Thermobrett, have not had in the water yet to test. Did you buy different screws to screw in to the transom saver? I had one of the screws that came with Garmin that will not tighten into block? And do you have any issues in this location with sidescan or depth at speed? Thanks!

Mine has been great so far. Yes I used the supplied screws from Garmin, but I put some semipermanent sealer in the holes prior to screwing in so they didn’t get standing water around the thread or want to back out. As for side scan, no issues to report at any speed. I was worried about the “bubbling” from the nozzle creating an interference especially at slow speed, but no issue that I can tell. Speed on the gps is within 1/5mph to the speed on the connext screen on the boat.
