Does the wake tower in the 2430 lock in the lowered position for transportation?

Neither one lock in the down position. They used to ship them with a bracket from the factory to keep them from shifting while being transported. I don't know if they still do.

I assume the wake tower can be in the raised position then for long distance transportation?

Yes. Just went 400 miles today in that configuration. Just know the height on trailer and watch for low overpasses.

Wake towers must be locked in the raised up position when trailering and in operation on the water - tag on the tower should mention that. When lowered, there is only a cable holding it and the bouncing action will tear it out damaging your boat, tower, and possibly windshield. Think of it as driving the boat on the water, the bouncing waves would make the tower jump around like a wild rabbit on a leash. Same thing bouncing down the road.
