Trolling motor mount for a 2024 255 FSH sport H

TLDR; I'm trying to install a detachable trolling motor mount on a new 255 sport H. I was under the impression that Yamaha did not make a trolling motor mount for the 255, however I found one in the starboard locker and I'm wondering if anyone has ever used it. Would you use it? Would you use it with a detachable mount?

I recently got a 2024 255 FSH Sport H. I've done the engine break in and now I'm going about adding in All of the goodies that were on my older boat.

Unfortunately, my 60-in trolling motor shaft isn't going to cut it and since it is a ulterra everything I found online says it can't be modified.

I've looked through several threads on here about installing a new trolling motor and have seen that a lot of people use the shuttle, which looks cool. I've also seen people that say that there isn't a stock trolling motor mount for 255 and that the smaller motor mount doesn't work.

However, to my surprise when I opened up the fish box on the starboard side, I found a trolling motor mount in it.

Has anyone else used this trolling motor mount? Is it a new accessory? I was under the impression that Yamaha didn't have mounts available for the 255.

I'll include a picture for reference. I'm new on here so I don't know if The forum will let me.

I plan on installing a Garmin Force kraken and using the detachable mount made by Garmin.

Does anybody have any advice on the mount that came with the boat? Would you use it? Would you attach the Garmin mounting plate to it? Or would you go with the shuttle?

I can save you some time, lol. The factory mount is narrower than the recommended Garmin cut out. But, since you're using the quick release, it actually raises the entire trolling motor assembly up. So, only the shaft requires clearance at the level of the factory mount. I missed that and test fit the factory mount to the TM without the quick release plate. Thinking it needed more clearance, I trimmed some of the factory mount, only to see that it wasn't necessary later. As long at the bottom of the U is at the edge of the gunnel, you'll be fine. Check out this thread. I installed a Force Kraken on the quick release mount on a 222FSH. The mounting plate has been fine.
