Captained a dual prop diesel today. SeaRay Sundancer 580. Had great weather and an awesome time with old friends.

Nice. What size boat? Seems strange they would put the throttle levers so far apart.

How did the docking go with that beast.

62’ anchor to swim platform. Those are actually the shift levers you see in the photo. Throttles were on starboard side of wheel.

Docking was easier than our yammies. It has so much mass that it stays put til you apply input. Wind affects it a little bit but not near as bad as my 24’ when the bimini is up.

The Torque is most impressive. Throw those shift levers at idle and you feel it all through the boat.

All steering at marina and dock is accomplished by shift levers and minor bow thruster only. No steering wheel. Boat will spin on a dime when shift levers are opposed.

Multiple ways to get to engine room.
1. rear garage door, then open floor under jet ski
2. Ladder from rear seating area.

Beautiful boat! How was noise / fumes with those two smokers?

Super quiet cabin when underway at cruise rpm of 1850. You notice the AC blowing and waves pushing more than the engines. Exhaust dumps at waterline near swim platform. Only smelled it at slip where wind was blocked.

In the engine room it’s a whole other story. Loud and hot.

Biggest gotcha is how much water this thing pushes, even at lowest idle. I was rounding an island at idle 650rpm speed. Even dropping to 1 engine often to help with the turn. I felt like I was slow enough(barely crawling), however I look over at a 24’ boat I just passed that was on anchor. Tossed him around pretty violently.

Only other option to slow down is to pull out of gear completely for about 10second intervals. Shift into gear for 10seconds choosing appropriate side for steering.

Oh how i love big boats.

We were on the market for a 40 - 45' aft cabin this year.

Then wife decided she wanted to remodel the entire inside of house. I said pick one. She chose house.

Got designer involved...

Then the 'Rona hit and everyone goes dark.

Now we are working on replacing the deck that has got some issues with a paver patio (gotta have a place for the 3 eggs to live). I don't mind having people work outside, but gutting my house while i have to live and work here wouldn't have gone well.

Inside will come next if 'Rona goes away and then I can get my floating house.
