Ok I have to start this with a huge caveat guys... I tend to post mods that I call "Don't try this at home" projects. They aren't for the faint at heart or maybe not even your average shade tree mechanic, but if I've done them, they CAN be done.
So I've fought with how difficult my boat is to pull all the way up for years. The amount of effort it takes to crank the winch those last few inches is brutal. So I did some research and as with many components that manufacturers spec, they put the wrong winch on my trailer, and probably a whole bunch of others too. It's fast, but the gear reduction isn't nearly enough for a boat that weighs what a loaded 212 Limited S does. According to the specs I found on the stock winch, it's meant for lower weight boats.
So I finally bought a two speed winch and swapped it into the Profile winch/bow roller mount on my trailer. Unfortunately even though the Profile mount had the extra holes required for a two speed winch, they weren't spaced exactly right for the winch I bought. It's possible there is a different two speed winch that would swap right in easier, I don't know which one though. So I had to drill the two additional holes myself, which isn't impossible, it's just a little more than you can do with your average hand drill. But again, not impossible.
So there it is guys, you can put a two speed winch in your Profile winch/bow roller mount. It works amazingly well. You crank it up most of the way with the higher speed gearing, then swap the handle to the other shaft to get some nice gear reduction power.
