On a lake that mey be fine without very strong winds. Where im at in costal Georgia that wouldnt work at all. I have a sand spike setup for our stern anchor, it works pretry good. Only problem is when the current or tide gets above it, it tends to pull out easily. Cool piece of kit, let us know how it goes.
I have one for our jet ski, it works perfectly for that. I don't think there is much to compete with it in the same size/weight. I had a cosmetic issue with mine and the company was extremely helpful. It is easy to drive into sand, but hard to drive into coarse/rocky shorelines. I would prefer a full size anchor and chain for 20'+ boats.

A Slide Anchor Shore Spike works extremely well as a beach anchor. Attaching a short bungee helps take up and shock. I've even used my Shore Spike (large) as an anchor point to winch my PWC/trailer up a slight hill and am amazed at how strong it holds even in grass and dirt.
