I took my SX192 out for the fourth time yesterday since having a new engine installed due to the known timing chain and gear failure. I have been constantly checking the engine compartment for leaks, loose items, etc.. Last night when I pulled out, I saw this item in the bottom of the engine compartment. From the markings, it has obviously been used, not just something left by the mechanic.
It was getting late and I had to tow home so I didn't have any time to investigate further last night.
I am guessing this is a motor mount shim but I don't know for sure. I am also guessing that something worked loose from the engine installation. I didn't notice any unusual noises or vibrations.
Has anyone experienced this or recognize this from an engine install? Where is the first place I should look for a problem?
It is a hassle to take the boat back to the dealer but since this is so soon after the engine install, should I take it back to them so they can't try to blame any future problems on my work?

That's a motor mount shim for sure. I would check all the mount bolts and see if one is loose.

I agree. It's a motor mount shim. It either was left out after the engine work and migrated to where you found it or loosened up and fell out. Either way, check all the bolts for tightness and call the mechanic with your results.

And if you had any vibrations it can totally be from that missing shims!
Make it the mechanics problem because it isn't yours.
