Hey guys. I am new to this and sorry if this has been asked. I just sold my 2005 Bayliner and am buying a 2015 215. The guy really needs the cash and I'm basically paying $27.5k and it only has 45 hours. Thought it was going to be to good to be true. Drove it in the morning w/him and went back tonight and drove it again. I'm new to jet boats so have no idea what to look for. Before I cash him out tomorrow, I'm looking at the hull.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. It's the entry level w/the 300 HP. Thanks!

Does he own it or have a lien ? If he has the title that is much better if not contact the lender to find out about paying them directly. Plan on not getting the title immediately they may be able to but I have had to wait in the past over a month. Not a big deal unless you need a registration to get a boat ramp sticker . Get a copy of the vin # call yamaha Y.e.s warranty check to see if it has a warranty then ask if any warranty work has been performed . There are some web sites that you can use to run the vin # to check for insurance claims someone wrote a great blog about all the different companies and who was better to use . Best of luck with your purchase looks like a good deal . Post up pictures of your boat I’m looking now for a great deal they go quick when priced correctly is that the AR210 if so that price is just above low retail according to NADA. What I have noticed is that Craig’s list is a great place to sell and buy but you have the occasional scam add they are usually easy to spot. Due to the adds being free you will have sellers posting used boats for just under what a new boat would sell for obviously they don’t sell

Good points. I think the OP is buying a Scarab though. The first couple years (2014 especially) those were not exactly problem free, but great boats if they run.
@Franchise 45 hours sounds great, almost new but enough time to reveal any major issues. The biggest that's been reported here is with the engine alignment - which can ruin carbon seals and cause water leaks around the impeller shafts. The other has been melted resonator tube in the exhaust due to cooling clogs (the cooling of the engine is closed loop but the exhaust is cooled by raw water in those BRP power plants).

EDIT - also not supposed to run on a hose for longer than a minute or so as it can damage carbon seals.

The twin 150's are good motors as they don't have the added supercharges to deal with. as others have mentioned, check the carbon seal issue. there are some posts showing pictures of what to look for. after an outing there should be very little to no water in the bilge. ensure all the gauges are working properly, gel coat is in good shape, steering, throttle / reverse have full range of motion, take a flashlight and look through the nozzle and under the boat at the intake to ensure impellers and wear ring are in good shape. look at the glass walkthrough, some people had alignment issues. Is the boat under warranty still? maybe it can be transferred... the price is good so if things are not perfect and require a little TLC then its no big deal. Good Luck!

Guys thanks for the quick feedback. Maybe I should have told you as I assumed this was a Scarab thread. It's a 2015 Scarab 215. It has no lien and he has the title. Going to make our exchange in a few hours. I was thinking maybe to have the marina do an inspection. We'll see.

Thank you all again for the feedback! I really appreciate it. Hopefully, IF there are any issues, I won't have to spend too much. Btw.. how NADA sucks for values and I had someone run a BUC and they said the value on this is 38k and getting it for 28k... keeping my fingers crossed lol.
