No, this is not a political post...not by a long shot.

This is about boats. See, we all like boats here. Heavy on the Yamaha side and that is where many of us came from, so that is to be expected. The thing about forums like this is that 99% of everybody is cool and they share and they contribute. They don't care who you are in real life so much as that they care about sharing a common passion.

I'm sharing a video from 2013 below. It's my wife wake surfing behind my AR230 on a super windy day in September.

The thing that strikes me is how happy were then. The wave was pretty awful, we had no Wake Wedge and you got dizzy going in circles all day, but we surfed it! Our "ballast" originally was storage tubs and/or in-floor coolers filled with water. I think everybody on the boat that day owned a Yamaha. Some went on to buy dedicated wake boats, some went on to make their Yamaha way better at surfing and watersports.

I guess what I am trying to say is have fun and be happy folks. This is a damn cool sport we have. Sometimes people chose one route or another with their toys and life, you might use your boat differently. Doesn't make those choices or yours better or worse, just different. It's still the same passion.

Great video!! My son and his friends were excited last summer to go out with a new aquaintance in a 2016 AXIS with every option possible. Afterwards, his only comment was that the people didn't know how to have fun with the boat. Our boat is fun and him and his friend now only go out in our Yamaha. Tough on dads gas bill but so what. Our surf wave is not bad and we have fun. Cam.

I have to say that this is really one of the best boating forums I've been on. Virtually no a-holes to be found anywhere. People always willing to engage in the discussion and give helpful input. It's really a rarity. Even though I no longer have a Yamaha, I still come here a lot because it is just a great boating forum. It seems everybody is here because of a love of boating, not because they want to try to prove they are smarter/have a better boat/have a bigger..well, you know.

well said... this is the first forum i have ever been apart of. I have since tired to join forums for my cars and stuff but they suck... you may go weeks with no response and the freaking adds are ridiculous.. everything blinking and changing colors. Makes me feel like i am in a constant commercial!

Well said, and so true. To boating!!!
Sorry for dial up users, LOL

So very true.

We attended the Milwaukee Boat Show this weekend and - of course - met a lot of salesmen selling widgets. I did however meet a few who were fellow boaters - they aren't difficult to pick out of a crowd.

I can usually get them out of "sales" mode real fast by pointing to my 4 children and saying "College is coming fast." So now we can talk to each other like two grownups and not someone trying to sell somebody something. The ones that hang around and talk anyway are usually fellow boaters.

This is one of 3 other forums that I (a self-confessed social leper) regularly visit. My first forum ever was The Trailer Sailor. I was fairly active over there when I used my sailboat on a regular basis.

I found the "previous iteration" of this place after attending the Milwaukee Boat Show in 2009 and discovering Yamaha boats for the first time.

The only other place that I regularly hang around is boardgamegeek.com.

The common theme among these three sites: Large, diverse groups of people that come together to share knowledge and passion.

I don't care who you voted for. Own a boat? Let's see if we can help each other out.

@007 . Totally agree...great people. Except that @buckbuck ....he talks too much! :p

This forum convinced me to spend $50K+ on a Yamaha...but couldn't be happier about it! IMO, this site does a better job selling boats than Yamaha does. :)

hey now @bobbie I may have to target you with a camera for some unflattering surfing pictures next summer.:)

@buckbuck uh oh...the diet starts today!

Great post and I couldn't agreee more...

@Jaime that is very cool. I must be living under a rock ... I did not know it was possible to surf a Wake without holding on to a tow line with your hands. Impressive.

I like the fact no one trashes any one else. Gotten the best information about my boat that the marinas don't even know.
Lot better than any forum I've joined.
