What was your first watercraft?

So I’ve just finished (for now anyway) repairing/“restoring” the first boat I ever owned and the change is more dramatic than expected. Originally the kayak was cedar and redwood, with aspen accents. While I was able to keep the redwood decks exposed, I had to paint everything else because the fiberglass substrate had been damaged. Before pics are in my original post.

The bottom is now a tri-coat pearl white. The blue is called lakeshore blue, which has more flake than expected and the amount of color shifting is crazy. It’s like a chameleon paint, where the colors shift from blues, to greens, to purples depending on the angle of light. At this point, we’re going to wait on changing it until we see on the water. It’ll be interesting….🤨
