New to the board but not to boating. It's time for an upgrade and am considering making the move over to a Yamaha 240 or 242. I have always had sterndrive type boats. Most recently a Sea Ray 190. Any info from other that made the switch would be helpful. My main concern is the noise level from the engines.

Welcome Dave. There are quite a few of you that have made the switch and never looked back, like me. There are a ton of post that start off exactly like yours, be sure to check them out and welcome!

Welcome Dave! Great name.. same as mine..lol

I have a 2019 SX190 and I came from a life of stern drives. Love the jet, takes a little getting used to with docking and putting on trailer but this is by far my favorite boat. As far as the noise I don’t find it any worse than an I/O. Hope that helps.

I’m a new owner myself,I had same concern about the noise level, once i test drove mine i’m Not sure what all the complaints are about. To me it isn’t any/or much louder than a stern drive V8. I noticed if i try to slowly take off its louder than if I give it throttle to plane and then back off a little. I have not got to spend lot of time on mine yet, summer seems so far away

Welcome! I switched from a 2006 Sea Ray 185 sport. I've been out on a number of jet boats and made the switch as well.
