Just curious who has traded their boat in at the dealer on a newer model? I'm really thinking about it as I'm impatient sometimes lol. I'm just curious what your overall experience was and if you feel you got a fair value on your trade? I dont expect retail on my trade nor even close to it but just trying to figure out how bad it will be or if its worth it.

my dealer offered me low to mid 20's for a boat that lists for 26-27

its quick and easy but you lose a few k

on the other hand, if you trade in your boat, you deduct the sales tax of the cost of your boat against the new boat, so you might save 2k (for my boat in NY state)

True.
However, don't know about other states, but in MO you can also deduct the price of a private sale, so that you end up paying taxes on the difference only. The catch is, you have 90 days to produce a bill of sale to be eligible to that deduction.

I came very close to trading mine in (a heavily moded 190 I recently sold). The dealer really wanted that boat, and I might have gotten the same price as what I was listing it for, maybe even more.
I did not want to tie myself to the dealer though with the trade AND new purchase. That was my logic... (for not trading it in).

I traded a year old model with minimal hours when the current models were almost identical to mine. They told me they would need to be able to offer my boat to a potential client for about a 10% discount to entice them to buy then of course they took off another $2k for their profit. All in all I traded for about $5k less than what they were selling for new. I could have gotten the additional $2-$3k back had I sold it outright but didn't want to deal with the PITA of selling it myself.

Ok so from this I show a low retail of 27,300 for a 2011 SX240 I'm just assuming thats the number the dealer will use. so just guessing it would be a trade in value of around 22,000 does that sound correct?

We traded our SX192 at Wedowee Marine and never looked back.
Wedowee offered us near what I was asking on Craigslist so it was a no brainer....less hassle by far

I have a subscription to NADA Connect which is what most of the dealers use, for the boat only with no upgrades $ 30,990.00 is Average Retail and $ 24,100.00 is Average Trade-In - Value from Jul-Aug 2016 edition.

Dealer offered my 21,000 for my 2012 sx210 I was wanting to purchase a 2016 212 ss. but the numbers where further out than i was willing to loose
