First day out on the boat for the season and the weather was a nice 69 degrees and blue skies! Water temp was 62 though so yea not getting in that :D. I did see one guy out surfing behind a Malibu but I don't see how he kept his toes from freezing!

Some other pics from today's cruise...

This creepy looking place used to have a sunken boat just out from the bank. I guess someone finally salvaged it away.

They had one of the gate opened today and the current was fairly stiff here with lots of whirlpools...

My old lake cabin as a kid....

Waterfall was flowing pretty good today. In the summertime you can climb up behind the rocks and there is like a natural whirlpool/spa above the falls...

62 is perfect!!! I would have been on a wave.

Heck I hated even taking a piss off the swim platform because my feet got cold from the wet seadek :D

It's got to be in the mid 70's water temp before I can enjoy swimming.

The older you get the colder the water seems. I'm hoping to get a dry suit for my birthday this summer. :)
Have you considered any specific brands/models? Would be very interesting to hear opinions!
I know that @buckbuck uses one, and @bobbie, I think.

Yes, I have been researching them. I was looking at the Oneal boost for about $350. Here is another link that some of the forums have recommended.

Is there a jetboaters.net thread on dry suits?

Kitesurfing and professional waterskiing forums are good places to look for info.

Y don't you get a good wetsuit I surf when the water is in the thirty's . I prefer Xcel dry lock with split toe Booty's round toe boots have a tendency to roll.

O Neal Boost is what we use with the split toe booty to keep the feet warm. We bought them from Wake Makers.

Few years back, yeah, no problem. These days - feel a little too phat for my 8mm. It can be exhausting, lol.

I can't speak for everyone else but I don't have the body like I did in my 20's :D

Surprisingly I still “fit” in my wetsuit that I bought when I was 16, and that was 21 years ago... I am on the lookout for a good full wetsuit though, as the 3/4 just doesn’t cut it when I actually want to wear one.

Something we’ve always done that works well is to bring a cooler full of HOT water on the boat and keep the wetsuit in it until it’s time to get in. Then we take a cup and pour the hot water into the suit when you have it on right before you jump in.

A dry suit might be nice, but this trick usually makes a wetsuit bearable in cold temps. Besides, it’s the wind on your head that will absolutely make you want to cry once you get up :)

Oh, and by the way.
Beautiful pictures, I’m jealously waiting for my first launch for the year.

I had the chance to dry a wet suit last spring. Water temps were in the 50's, and aside from the thing being a bear to get on, it worked surprisingly well. My body, legs, and arms were nice and toasty, while my feet, head and hands got chilly quickly. I'm a pretty warm natured person (I wear shorts year round for reference) and it wasn't a terrible experience overall. Air temps were in the 60's and the sun was out. I think those two factors helped a lot as well.

Great pictures of the outing @haknslash ! Sure wish we were able to get ours out. Weather just hasn't quite cooperated with us yet.

Wetsuit technology is far far better than ever before I wear a 4/3 mm hooded when there's snow on the beach ,water in the high thirty's and up Xcel infrared heat technology is the deal is a little hard getting on and off . Most mornings I don't even get any water in my suit sometimes I'm wet from sweat

Get rid of your old wetsuits if they're more than 3 years old today's 3 2 wetsuit is warmer than probably 6 mil from a few years back .4/3 will be more than enough anything thicker you can't move good. Don't cheap out buying low end models cuz you're getting what you pay for . Trust me I have been a avid surfer for 25 years look on surfline .com wetsuit buyer's guide it will steer you in the right direction.

@haknslash - did you burn through a half-tank of gas? Looks like you ran from one end to the other. Water levels look great. I think it's going to be a good spring of boating.

We stayed out for about 5 hours just cruising around. I took my buddy all around the lake and sloughs. About half way up the lake the current was flowing pretty good. Not sure what I burned in gas for the day but we had a good time under the sun. Now it's cold again lol. So ready for spring to finally get here with warmer weather. The pollen has already started laying on my truck this morning.
