I have a 2015 Yamaha 242 limited s when making a right hand turn only running normally about 5800 rpm is experiencing excessive cavitation in the starboard jet. At an idle also notice small rattle coming from starboard jet. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks

I believe that this falls into the 'could be plum near anything' category. Some pics of the intake grate and impeller would help. Could be anything from something stuck in the impeller to something lose on the intake grate to missing silicone to a wear ring issue to damage to the impeller. Or probably many other things I have not thought of yet.

The fact that it happens only when turning starboard is a little inconsistent with an issue on the starboard jet (usually I think that should be the one that bites more in such a turn--right?) but it very much could be that the water is then flowing over a part where you have an issue and causing 'dirty' turbulent water to enter the intake.

Hmmm.... Usually a cavitating issue is a constant issue, not a variable issue. I would think that the by the sound of your description it could be a impeller pitching problem..... maybe. I'd start by removing you impeller housing and inspecting.
