Same as my filters...what matters is how well they let air flow through. Smaller doesn't always mean less air flow.

I have found the Yamaha JB air filters, the whole airbox gizmos, do a lot of noise reduction.

Otherwise, they are not necessary, other than as flame arrestors maybe?
But modern outboards have no air filters at all. Except maybe some of the supercharged Mercs, like Verado, that need super clean air for the supercharger, but Yamaha outboards have none.

true through if the material was identical I do not see how it allows the same airflow for with half the surface.

when she is loud I generally I like, but when she is a boat, I wish she could tone down a bit for there are kids around.

Does anyone have a good part # for the cone air filters? looks like the inside ID of my 2015 SX192 intake hose is exactly 3" ID.
looks like people have a cone filter, with an adaptor reducer fitting in between? I don't really care if it's K&N, i'm not a big fan of their overhyped data anyway just to justify their high pricing.

3" pipe will solve the problem I went back to factory. There wasn't any added benefit...
