Yamaha Wakebooster - what is this part?

I bought a Wakebooster for my Yamaha and it includes this part, which isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Any idea what it is? It's made of what seems to be sintered aluminum, and has a notch on one of the corners, and the 3M tape on the left and right sides. I would guess it to be a bracket for something, but it's not likely anything that would go in the water or anything holding a lot of weight, if it's only 3M tape holding it up.
