No, was taking some water level measurements to confirm mount height

2018 AR240. Took it out for the first time last weekend and stiff steering. Not as bad as yours but enough that I felt I got a good work out after an hour. Going to wait and take it in at end of season and let them deal with it since its still under warranty. Glad you got it fixed.

@Stevepro172 If it gets worse I would attend to it. I have heard that if it gets very bad it can seize. If you are on the water that is not a good time for that to happen. That was my biggest concern.

My steering is stiff again after flushing cables. :(

At this point, I'm just going to replace them with new cables. Even riding this past weekend with friends driving it, they were like, damn this thing is hard to steer.

Question, I'm pretty handy with repairing things on my own, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc. ... is this easy enough job to do on my own or would you have a Yamaha dealership replace the cables?

@adamncincy You can do it. It is basically two nuts where they exit the stern and 4 bolts at the steering column. Take off the Gas tank Cover and pull them out to the helm. Put it in the new ones from the helm and use some sealant where they exit the stern. Non issue really. Make sure you don't kink the new cables. Was way easier than I thought it would be.

Ordered my cables as well. Glad to hear it is a fairly easy job. Just need that special socket it sounds like now.

@HangOutdoors do you still have your old cable lying around or did you toss it? The cable is backordered everywhere but one of the dealers told me they can try to help me get one with the seastar part number on the cable vs. using the Yamaha number. If you have that number it would be a big help.
I haven't pulled my old one from my boat yet and I probably won't until I can track down a replacement cable since I still want to use the boat. I've been trying to lube my cable for over a week now with no success.

Thanks!

Did you get a cable? I'm having no luck and I ordered a couple weeks after you.

Manufacturer update today, cable will be available 2/22/22.
Or someone just typed a bunch of 2s in their system and it sent me an auto email.
This is ridiculous

wow that really is too bad, did you try the grease gun on the end of the cable and a fitting to pump in grease ? Several posts over the years about that ,

I did not try that one. Tried the air pressure cable luber and it only worked on one side - the good one of course.
