On the 4th of July it just felt so right to order a 50 Beowulf AR style rifle. It was on sale for 599,I couldn't pass it up. Got the ammo today, still waiting for the rifle....oh and a few days later, the 556 AR pitol went on sale for 399...Couldn't pass it up. Good think the "Gun fund" is separate from my daughters college fund.
I have an assortment of things that go "bang". It used to be so easy to use them in Arizona when we could just throw them in the jeep and head for the hills. Here in Minnesota all of the surrounding land is private so we have to go to a range. On the plus side I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that trap was a high school sport and my son joined the team straight away.
Anyway, back on topic: By far the most fun we have now is the home made cannon that we can fire on our property...certainly the largest caliber too !
Sorry for the video tease, that's a screen snap off the phone...the video was done in slo mo on an iPhone.
I agree with PM9 over any of the similar sized 380s. If I did own one I would tell you that the match barrel is so accurate and the sights are so good that the first day at the range I moved the target out to 15 and then 25 yards. I would also tell you that it is incredibly effective against rabid possums and snakes.
Oh yeah, if you must have a 380 then the P380 is way smaller than a G42 and almost as good as a PM9. So small that it disappears under a woman's tight clothing. I just wish that Kahr made a PM380 match version.

Crappy picture but from top down is my Thompson center encore, Remington 770 .270, M&P sport Ar15, and last the gun I think everyone in the US has, a Remington 870 express.
More like a Mercedes v.s. Kia debate. . . . = ) Taurus is cheap and effective for plinking, but I wouldn't trust my life with it (or ANY gun) without putting 500 plus flawless rounds through it.
Took the new guns to the range yesterday. The 50 Beowulf is insane. (and wow my shoulder hurts)
Ammo is Alexander Arms 335gr JHP. got them for about 1.40 per round.
Here's a teaser from the video. I just have to find some (hopefully free) software to render the high speed in slower motion than windows movie maker will. Filmed with a GoPro hero 3 black at 720 with a frame rate of 120fps. The best I could get without going down to 420.
In about 50 miliseconds it's GONE.
This shows how far away the melon was. Right before that target you see straight ahead. About 100ft. Chunks of melon were landing on the roof above us.
Also took out an old broken oscope from work. Hit it about a 1/2 inch low. Not to bad for iron sights that I didn't touch after installing.
Ruger Mark II Government Target Model. Stainless Steel, Bull Barrel, Slab Side. I added the Volquartsen Vothane grip a while back (it came with nice wood grips) but haven't shot it since.

Nice Lookin gun. I only hope you have better luck with it than I have with my Ruger Mk III. Jamminest (my word) gun I've ever owned. Tried multiple ammo's even. I took off the loaded chamber indicator and smoothed out the feed ramp and it got a little better but I can't get through a full mag even. It just sits in my safe. Maybe one day I'll return it to ruger and see what they say. I had such high hopes for it. I was actually trying to get a Sig Mosquito at the time I bought it but they were never available.
