Anyone been to Belize to stay (not cruise visit) lately and have any lodging recommendations ??

A gal that I work dives and swears by Ambergris Caye - there’s a Hilton (Curio Collection) their that she likes.

My wife and I went pre covid, stayed in the interior in belmopan at a place called the rainforest lodge at sleeping giant, flew into belize city, rented a car , stayed a week, beautiful place , they have a sister location on the coast called jaguar something, if life ever settles back down were going back

Have been twice. Ambergris Caye both times (San Pedro). We stayed at Victoria House on the first trip (south of town) and Grand Caribe the last trip (north of town). I would recommend both. Victoria House is a smaller resort and quieter. Grand Caribe is a large resort with multi-story condos. Main transportation is to rent a golf cart. There are taxis but mostly cart rentals. Plenty of restaurants and bars in and around town. Secret Beach is a long cart ride but worth it. Almost everyone speaks perfect English and American money is accepted though you may get change at some places in Belize currency. It is not an expensive place to stay. Most restaurants and bars are the same as being home and are actually cheaper for some things.

Does everyone typically water taxi over from the mainland?

We flew both times. There is a small airport on the Caye. Small planes about 10 passengers. Only about a fifteen minute flight from Belize City. The resorts can arrange your hop over and transportation to the resort.

We stayed at Grand Caribe two years ago and enjoyed it. Golf cart is the way to go. Truck Stop is a great place to eat near by.

Well, I settled on a resort in Placencia. After doing a bit of reading between San Pedro and Placencia I decided to go with the more laid back vibe. One writer wrote that Placencia is more like Key West was 50 years ago. So we'll see......We are renting a car and driving down the Hummingbird Highway (approx 3 hrs) from Belize City to Placencia.

Be careful...I was in Key West over 40 years ago and still face planted. The side walks were terrible then. No chance for drunk tourists. Lol

The wife and I were in the Keys back in our 20's and she tried to take her clothes off one night in a bar.......I'm hoping to recreate that scenario!!:p

Hello, My Uncle owns Banana Bank Lodge. It is close to Belmopan. Trail rides in the jungle and wonderful place to visit. I have only been one time.
You can find out more info on the internet.

We’re back. We stayed at Naia in Placencia. It was amazing. If you want an interesting read, read this little background piece on the mennonites that migrated to Belize. I looked it up after the beach captain at our resort told me the Belize people rely on the mennonites for the majority of their produce, fruits, lumber etc.
