boats are getting bigger and heavier every year with all tech and bells and whistles .. Yamaha knows this .. and its time to upgrade .So does that mean there will eventually be a Supercharged version. If they are generating 20% more HP for the N/A version a Supercharged version would be pushing 300HP.
Supercharged inline 6 would be awesome. 325hp all day long.
2 in liine 6s would prob net 3.0L Motors .. and probably send these boats (25fters) with twins to 65 mph ! LOLV-6's have inherent balance issues, add 2 cylinders in line, runs smooth, stroked and blown 400hp.
2 more cylinders inline, wag, another 125 lbs.
That's why I said perhaps Yamaha is looking to introduce a 29 footer. The Sea Ray SDX is a similar class so maybe Yamaha wants to have a matching 29' offering. Two supercharged 2.0L 4-cyclinders would probably get it about 50MPH like a 275SD.2 in liine 6s would prob net 3.0L Motors .. and probably send these boats (25fters) with twins to 65 mph ! LOL
Hope you got a lot of it. Including yearly price increase and new motor - a 222 will be pushing 90k. A 222XD will be over 100k.I'm in on a new motor with more power. As long as it 1) still runs on 87 and 2) it's used in their other vehicles too. I wouldn't worry about being a first time adapter either, Yamaha seems to know engines very well.
Also, with more HP, I wonder if Yamaha could tune the impellers to push more weight through the water... more ballast, more surf wave, less noisy, and still no prop - shut up and take my money.
Add two more pistons and you will be at 1,578cc and possibly 240 HP.1052cc mr1- 11000rpm
1812cc HO - 7500rpm
if you increase bore/stroke you will not be able to keep same rpm
