That's sucks you have to put the Bimini up. I thought there would be a second set of holes so you wouldn't have to do that. FYI the snap on cover for The SX230 will fit your boat and you won't have to have store the Bimini.

Like Scott said, the cover can only be put on with the bimini in the storage position which is legs folded in and bimini resting on the back of the boat, and the same for any of the year boats 07-09, so the cover for these boats would all be the same. One thing I can do different for my bimini is fold it forward and have it rest right behind the driver windshield on the noodles. I do this because of my tower speakers and it is much easier.
A while back I was looking at some mounting options to move the Bimini posts to the tower tube that is right beside the windshield frame mounts so I could leave the Bimini tied up to the tower and put the cover on.

But then I started laying my Bimini forward as well, but I extend it a little so it rests on top of the windshield and acts as a padding so the cover isn't rubbing on the windshield frame and rubber bumper that many put a noodle over.

finally got the new cover to the house and unboxed. This is definitely a new improved cover fabric. I can easily tell how much heavier it is as compared to the old. Hopefully it holds up better as they say in the literature for the new fabric. so far I am happy :winkingthumbsup"

I bought a new cover and have the newer design. I don't know if it's thicker but it's definitely different. I like the zippered buckle cover and the bottoms of the new anti-pooling poles. I did notice that it's a tighter fit and isn't the absolutely perfect fit of the previous cover. Not bad, but ever so slightly off.

yeah, I noticed the same thing too about the fit. I am hoping it stretched a bit over time to fit better.

I've had the new cover on my Sx240 for a year now in 100% outdoor uncovered storage in the hot SoCal sun and it is perfect. With the old cover, I started to notice it deteriorating after first season with light dusting and be completely gone by 3rd season.

I just cleaned it yesterday and gave it a coating of 303 to hopefully give it even more life as a preemptive strike against the sun etc. I really hope this one lasts longer and am planning to give it the 303 coating every year

I was able to score a killer deal on one last year on ebay. One of the dealers in Minnesota I believe had a ton of them listed and I got it around $500 shipped. Just keep searching ebay and make sure you find the correct part number for the newer cover as some people post a pic of the new cover but in the listing have the old model number listed

I can only get at best 2.5 years from the Yamaha mooring cover in the Florida sun on my 2008 AR210. After that, it's as thin and delicate as paper. I was excited to see on this thread that surlast has introduced their new BW+ (basket weave) fabric on all light grey covers in 2016. I was a bit skeptical as I remembered in 2010 and 2013 when I ordered the covers, they seemed thick and really durable when new. I could have easily thought my cover, when unboxed in 2013, was an improvement over the cover from 2010 when comparing the two side by side (used 2010 cover vs new 2013 cover). Also, the bulletin that waterboy posted states that this improvement is now included on all MY16 covers - I was thinking they meant "all model year 2016 boats", not "all covers manufactured in 2016".
I called the number on the bulletin and spoke to Roxanne at Commercial Sewing Inc. I asked if all light grey covers had in fact been improved with the BW+ fabric on their older cover designs, or was that only for newer style covers. She was very helpful and had to call me back so she could research it. I had given her the model number of my cover: MAR-210MC-TW-CH.
Unfortunately for some of us, her response was that the older style covers like mine, that are manufactured today, do not use the new BW+ fabric. Only covers for boat model years 2012 (for Yamaha) and later use it.
I just though I should share my findings.

I have no choice but to have to bite the bullet and spend another $550 for the same cover. Mine is torn to shreds. On the next windy day this thing will blow away like a dandelion:(

@cdave2000 hace you priced if taking the cover to a local shop to remake with sunbrella. It will be expensive but should last longer St your current rate it may be cheaper.

I have a local guy that made me a sunbrella bimini top for $280 last year. I love it and can tell it will last a long time. He said it would be around $1000 to make a sunbrella cover. The value is definitely there, but at almost twice the price I'm not sure about that kind of investment on a boat with almost 900 hours. I'll probably take the gamble on another yamaha cover that I know fits perfect and wont require me to pull the boat out of the water for a week to have it made.

Thanks 2nazt!

Reviving an old thread as I'm looking to replace my factory cover after 3 years. When did they change to the new BW+ fabric? If mine was the "new" fabric then it didn't last long. It was the black premium deluxe factory cover I got with the boat in 2015. If they changed it then maybe I'll give the factory cover another shot.
