Hello All,

Appreciate all of the amazing information here. I just finalized a deal yesterday for our new Yamaha AR190. I'm looking for tips since I'm new to the jet boat ownership thing. I've owned a pwc in the past. Will be doing all freshwater boating. Any tips anyone can provide? Specifically, batteries..will I need to add another......upgrades to sound systems....what's a great wakeboard for the money.....wakeboard racks......Yamaha Fenders vs typical 'balloon tubes'....I 'm open to any tips!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Great boat that will bring you loads of fun times.

I like the Hull Hugr flat fenders and have used them since I started boating. I do have some taylor balloon fenders that came with the boat. For ease of use I attach 1 fender to each cleat with a short ball bungee. The rear most is attached to a large suction cup that attaches it right to the hull.

Get yourself a new soft roller for the trailer, maybe some boatbuckles for the rear, and a keel guard!

I opted for @Cobra Jet Steering LLC fangs setup to aid in straight line stability and an easier time docking, check them out. They can be locked for full time duty, or spring loaded to retract under speed.

Give your engines a good flush after every outing and don't be alarmed when your motor sounds like a blender full of bolts while running out of the water.

Enjoy!

Interesting. First I've heard of a keel shield but I can see how it sure makes sense. I've seen a lot about the Cobra Jets and how much they help. I figure I'll give that new articulating keel a try and see how well it does before investing there. How many Hugrs are you using? I was thinking 4. Good idea on the suction cup! I guess flushing can't hurt after every trip even in freshwater. Any recommendations for length of the keel shield? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry with flushing after fresh water use but YMMV. Good idea trying the stock articulating rudder than throwing on fins from the start. You may find you don't need them and you may like the way the boat handles stock. Unless there is a lot of gusty wind or current my rudder is sufficient for maneuvering.

Ahhh forgot about the articulating keel. I have an 8' Keel guard and it runs to the flat bottom. Im in a fresh water lake and flush after every outing. Its no big deal to me, and id rather push out any sand, clay or small vegetation the blender under the boat may have forced through then letting it dry up in there.

@ncinthenext3 I also JUST purchased a 2017 AR190. I previously owned a 2013 AR192 (bought it with low hours for about $24,500) and when we moved to Kansas from Nashville, all my research told me to sell, sell, sell because there's not much boating in Wichita! Truth be told, can't live without a boat and you can't beat the AR190 price point. We've also found a couple of lakes around the corner, but we'll be towing to Table Rock often! The price tag on ours was $27k, still with the foam on the tower! What a great boat, can't wait to pick up soon...send some pics!! FYI, Sam's Club has a large foam floating mat for around $250. Great addition for long days of lounging on the water. Enjoy!

The AR190 is a great boat. Had 1 before my current 212x.
Batteries - unless you have a big multiple amp sound system - single battery is fine. Stock stereo is not a big draw.
Fenders - I have several different types. I use standard 6" fenders for quick launching. 8"ers for longer lunch/dinner stops. And the big balls are perfect for raft ups. IMG_5459.PNG

Here's to a fun Summer '17. Nothing like picking up a new boat in a winter coat!!! Now just hoping and praying that it fits in the garage!!! If you don't hear from me in 3 hrs it's because my wife has killed me. Wish me luck!

Sweet man I knew you had it! lol Don't she just look great setting inside your own garage. Just think in December you can do some garage boating. The wife gets a kick out of it when I ask her to grab some beers and its 25 degrees outside! Enjoy!

OK happy to have taken delivery over the weekend......weather was so bad it only got wet from above.....but it's where it needs to be.

Now, I'm wondering about the carpeting. At least while it sits, I took it out. I didn't want it getting moisture while sitting under the shipping cover and all of the rain we're getting. I do have the black mooring cover on order. Dealer messed up and gave the the gray one, which I wasn't interested from the beginning so that's going back to them. I know you can buy products like SeaDek (incredible looking but something to shoot for) or replacement carpet kits, but not interested in forking out the cash just yet. Just wondering what everyone does. Do you leave in your OEM carpet and if you have, how does it clean up? I can see that if you try and go without it to save the look of the carpets, stepping on the snaps would suck. Thanks in advance!

We just bought a '17 AR190 as well. Pickup on Saturday (probably in the rain according to the weatherman :( ) Just spent a couple hundred bucks on safety /sports equipment from Amazon.

Hoping the delivery/tow home/initial garage fit works out OK. I'll try to take some pictures along the way.

I hope you have an 8 foot garage door! Otherwise, it's not going in without removing the tower. Still possible and not that hard to do but......

Congrats on the new boat! I bought the Space Blue one. Had no preference either that or the white one. The Mrs. chose the color.

As long as you have the trailer jack set pretty high it will drain fine... I took mine out for the winter and stored it in a house closet... it's still there and waiting for better weather.. once I put it back in it will stay there for the summer.. pretty durable stuff...

Have an 83.5" opening. @haknslash has a tower mod that lets you get into an 81-ish" opening. That will be happening almost immediately upon arrival at home.

We got the white one. Wouldn't have minded the blue/black combo, but the white one was on the lot, and it was the last AR190 they had. Had an AR195 that we considered as well, and really the extra $5k was worth it for what you get. We decided the extra power (and subsequent increased fuel cost) wasn't warranted.

Undoing tower bolts not to bad.. where long sleeves as the fiberglass will tear the skin on your arms up

Guys, taking the new boat out for the first time today. Weather in KS is a high of 60/70 with not too much wind. Getting the 1.5 hours of break in time in on my own so next
Time we go out we don't have to baby the boat and get started with the real fun. Will make sure to take some pics.

Headed to academy, what anchor fits the AR190 anchor locker? I forgot to measure before I left.
