@HELP @chess is on the water... his port engine won't start.. it will spin but not start.. we tried the lanyard, and pushing the bypass on the throttles to get more fuel but nothing is working.. it sounds like it is fuel starved.. any ideas?

Does port side try to chug chug chug when starting or just spin freely with starter?

Yes to which one? If it chug chug chugs it may be trying to start and could be short on fuel or spark i assume fuel level is ok in i would warn against grounding plug to motor to check for spark because it can ignite fumes if the fuel is leaking!
Check for gasoline smell
Also, open up filter box and look for oil deposits and/or wet throttle bodies which can mean overfull oil or flooded engine with fuel

Spins freely... doesn't sound like it is getting fuel
I don't know how freely it is but could be lost compression from a spark plug blowout or something?

Gotta be the neutral switch, lanyard, no fuel, no spark

I would pull the speaker by the drivers foot and find the connectors for the lanyard switch, one for each motor. If you can't tell which one of for which motor disconnect both and then try the port motor.

That's good possibility!
Try jiggling around a little while trying to crank over

The lanyard switch is one plunger with two independent switches, one for each motor. I had one switch of my lanyard fail on my Yamaha and left it disconnected for about a year before replacing with an after market switch.

What year is his boat. . . . . . Did it run at all today? Timing chain issue?

Was he wake surfing and listed to that side?

Leave the engine hatch open and try it. Sometimes after sitting, the humidity causes issues starting again. Just a thought.
