Ratcheting down my cover for my 1 time a year tow and 1 of the plastic buckles breaks. I was able to single knot it and keep together under the velcro. Any possible fix for this? Those are sewn into the straps and show YKK, so I'm guessing I could find a replacement and figure out how to sew it in?

If you have enough strap I would see it with monofilament fishing line.

I'd imagine they buckles are pretty standard and easy to find...then a quick trip to an upholstery shop should be able to get a new one stitched into where the broken one is. I'd recommend a shop as that fabric is likely pretty tough to sew through.

Backpack repair buckle. Amazon, Walmart, EMS, REI, etc. Sewing repair kit from the same vendor to make the magic happen.

I myself was too lazy for all this. My non sewn swim platform buckle wiggled off in a swamp. Took one off the winter cover instead.

@Nick Hughes we had the same problem when preparing for our "first of the season" trip this year.

I found a whole box of heavy duty clamps/ clasps in the camping section of Walmart. (yellow & white box)

We then took the whole cover to our local "boot repair" shop, as they were the only local store to have an industrial sewing machine, and they installed the new clasps. Over all I believe we paid about $20.

If you go this route make sure the company doing the repair knows to not just cut the line and install the new one but to rather remove the old stitching and replace the old clasps with the same/original section of line.

Hope this helps.

The original ones are an inch and a half but I just recently bought the 2 inch ones which have a 378 pound breaking straight compared to your off-the-shelf camping buckles which have about a 60-100 pound breaking strength. the 2 inch ones fit fine and should have a longer life .

Doesn't help now, but how tight are you ratcheting? Haven't had one break in 12 seasons on multiple covers.
