Hello Everyone.
I had a 2014 VX1100 and a 2017 FXHO. We almost never took both crafts out at the same time unless we had company in town or friends/neighbors that wanted to party on the beach for memorial day, 4th of july, etc. Anyway, we decided that not taking both out was a shame and we should just get a boat. I had been drooling over a Scarab 165 ID that they had at my local dealership for a long time, except that I didn't like the color. So instead of buying off the floor I ordered a 2019 with the 300HP engine! Can't wait for it to arrive. They said 8-10 weeks. I'm planning for 12. Hopefully that's realistic.

I've been reading posts for the last couple of weeks and I thought I would go ahead and sign up and introduce myself.
Thanks for all the information. I've already learned tons.

glad to have you on board, i'm excited to hear about how the new boat runs, what dealer did you buy from?

be sure you understand about the carbon seal and running engine out of the water, that used to be a potential problem, we have lots of good info in the scarab/rotax section,

Way to go, you are gonna dig having a boat. In my single years, I always had 1 if not 2 waverunners. Then sold one to get a shuttlecraft (horseshoe shaped jetboat that was powered by one waverunner) That was the bachelor boat. it allowed a cooler, stereo and a couple honeys.

Once married, my wife and I sold our boats (yes we both had two) and bought our first 20' jetboat. First think you will appreciate is dry storage, cooler space and being able to take friends out comfortably, but yet still play in the style boat you bought. It's a tilt-a-whirl for 4!!

Have fun, be safe and get used to the boat before loading it down with everyone and everything. Best advice, is your first day should probably be a midweek day where you can get a system at the landing without the crowds. And then play with where to put the trailer while retrieving the boat. Then you will be gold for those busy days with friends.

thanks for the welcome everyone!
im trying to assemble my distress kit and figure out what i need to bring for spare parts before it gets here. after that i'll search around here for recommended break in rpm durations, etc. i definitely remember it being hard not to go wide open right away on both waverunners.

launching and recovery should be a fun learning experience. it seems like it took the better part of the 1st summer to get it down to a science with the waverunners. i'll definitely plan to take it out mid week until i at least get it broken in.

FL doesn't require me to take a boaters education course (born before 1988) but i went ahead and completed the one offered by the us power squadron, both as a refresher since i haven't been captain of a boat since i was 18 on the lakes of new mexico when dad just wanted to sit at the bar by the launch ramp, and in the hopes that it'll i will at least get my money back in insurance savings.

95% of the time it's just me and the wife out on the water playing around. i'll be glad that we don't have to keep coming back to the spot where we left our chairs and a cooler. i'll also be glad not to have to drag that stuff back and forth every time.

You are going to figure out real quick that even a short boat trailer is 100x easier to backup than a waverunner trailer. Even double waverunner trailers can be a trick. Also, support your wife in picking to either drive the boat, or back the truck. Neither is hard, but both take practice. Then you will never be "that guy" at the landing if you both have something you are responsible for.

My wife refused to back the truck. So driving the boat on/off the trailer was the only other option. She hates the attention at the landing, and finds it really stressful, but that was her choice. Nothing anyone hates more than waiting on "half a couple" as one refuses to do either.

I'm sure that's not the case for you.

Good luck
