Hey all new owner of a 2014 242 limited s. If seen many debates on putting thrusters or vectors on. Do I need both? Do I need them at all? Which brands do you guys have? How hard is the install? Thanks for any advise

My friend. Box of Pandora, opened now, you have... Hhmmmrph!

I bought TV + LT. These are @JetBoatPilot products. I have not installed them yet. I did follow the most common advice and drove her stock for a season before deciding what I wanted.

Like many have said I think I’m looking to make it easier for the wife to trailer and dock when loading unloading. Although it may be better just to teach her how to back the truck down the ramp and not lose the truck lol

The single best thing I have done to my boat: reverse thrusters. I wouldn't even consider a Yamaha without them after having an AR240 with and without them. Just my opinion, but if there's much current where you dock it will probably be your opinion too after you try them. Install was a piece of cake.

I'm on my 3rd season with my '18 AR195 and just added the lateral (reverse) thrusters, very happy with the increased reverse steering control.

How difficult is to install them if one already has Trust Vectors installed? Do I have to remove and reinstall them again to get the LT’s on?

Nope. Watch the YouTube install video. It has the TV already on.

It is true about the Pandora's box...

I have TV & LT's (full disclosure). IMHO:
1) TVs or CJS offer similar benefits. CJS can be set to stay down all the time; TV's flip up at speed. CJS are metal; TV's are solid plastic laminate. CJS are metal colored; TV's are one of several colors. Customer service by each is excellent, generally. Install for each is pretty easy, but will require you to use wrenches (so if you are thinking you can just clip something on, not so).
2) I think I had mine 2-3 seasons before I added my steering enhancement. Steering is better at low speeds, but not better enough that you can ignore how your boat behaves and how jets perform. That is why it is best to put off adding it.
3) LT's give a whole different thing: a lateral jet that pushes the back of your boat to one side or the other. Also pretty easy to install, excellent customer service, etc. With this one, I found learning how to us it is key. You have to steer to port and bump the starboard engine in reverse to make the aft end swing to port. Takes practice--not a magic bullet.
4) TVs go on the sides of your jets; LT's go on the bottom (so you don't have to take off one to do the other.

Hope that helps some.
