Greetings,

2014 212X rattling sounds at idle. I suspected the impeller impacting the housing, confirmed by getting my fingers on the stainless steel wear ring and feeling the slight scratches. Planning to pull the impellers and replace the housings, but wondering if someone here has direct experience with the WSM (or other brand) aftermarket housings with nylon/plastic wear ring. And curious how you know the plastic liner is damaged/worn if there is no audile indication..

Thanks again in advance!

www.sbtontheweb.com I put hundreds of hours on their nylon liners with no issues and obviously the p w c and jet boat parts are the same, so call them I hear some people using other manufacturers parts have had issues Also I never drive them hard so I would not know LOL!

Mother Yamaha has housings on backorder, so I ordered a JSI plastic-lined one from the 'Zon instead. Took the boat out Saturday and it was quieter and had good thrust. 35 MPH with 5 people on board (including 2 people and 2 dogs in the bow) at 3300' is about as good as I've ever seen. Plus it was cheaper. Time will tell as far as durability.

Any issues during installation? Curious to see how durability compares..

None at all. Bolted right up. Impeller fits with minimal clearance (I didn't put a feeler gauge on it)
I've read that the impeller cuts its own clearance in the sleeve. Does it specify the material.. Delrin, polymer-something ?

Did you mean JSI or JSP? JSP Manufacturing is based near Tampa Florida. Getting ready to order two housings. Just want to make sure I got the same Amazon seller that you used.

I looked SBT in Clearwater for the replacement housings but then I found Jet Ski Parts (JPS) Manufacturing in Pinellas Park Florida. JPS was literally half the price of SBT and JPS had free shipping. They looked to be exact same part. Both JPS and SBT had the nylon inner sleeve. When I called SBT, it sounded from the guy I talked that they didn't actually make this part themselves. I decided to order the parts from JPS. Wondering if you know anything about JPS and their parts?

I do not know about who makes the parts I do know that some people have had issues with other parts and I have used the ones from S B T with no issues if the jet ski parts you are referring to is located on 42 street south I know the owner Joe but I do not know the info on that part I will check with him next time I need to change a pump out I will see about testing one . I know Joe manufactures a lot of parts possibly he is supplying S B T due to the close location of both and that would also explain the difference in price from one to the other .

Nylon sleeves are replaceable so it is very cost effective once you replace the housing but on the original ones you have to replace the entire housing anyway and since the nylon is not metal all that dissimilar metal problem goes away and the pump is silent on the trailer I put hundreds of hours on my nylon liners but I also add gear oil to the pump bearing housing like I do with the intermediate bearing housing so those last forever.

I am only having issues with the impeller housing on the port jet but I am having the dealership replace both. I figure if one is acting up the one will be soon. Is this what most folks have done? Do both?

Also, is there a huge concern for the potential of cavitation with Nylon sleeves?

Small world I took a ride over to the shop and learned that my friend had moved his operation from St. Pete to my neck of the woods. He said he sells the pump housings he sells them for P W C's but I believe the same ones fit the boats. Next time I change my housings I am going to try his out I told him if they hold up and work properly I will let people know so far I have only used the other ones from S B T and I am very happy with them . No cavitation or issues at all and if you suck up a rock you just replace the liner . If you have issues with the dissimilar metal type ORIGINAL you need to add zinc to it if you run in salt water I do that and it helps but still does not prevent corrosion just slows it down.

Where can you find part numbers for the new housings with nylon wear rings for my particular boat?

The reason I suggested them is I have used those for years with great results.
One thing I have learned in my 55 years of boating experience is buy a part not a price. Do it once and do it correctly. Either way you are changing the pump liner section of your pump but once you do if you ever have an issue with the impeller sucking in rocks or other trash and the liner gets damaged you just have to replace the liner down the road I drive my stuff very hard if I don't break it that is saying something for it's durability. The one thing people just forget is backing off the trailer or a beach is probably the most problematic for jet propelled watercraft as the reverse thrust shoots down under the boat and throws up all sorts of sand small rocks and debris . This is probably the number one cause of pump and impeller damage. so keep that in mind. I not only beat the heck out of my Yamaha skies I drive them W O T in extremely shallow water , in this video I was testing the new steering out and was doing 60 in less than a foot of water and just about touching the mangroves when I turned. Me testing out the extreme handling capabilities of the new 2021 FX HO skies and in this video I was also driving hard to test the new steering including standing on the seat no hands and then leaning down to turn the ski This water is very shallow as well. testing the extreme handling capabilities of my new 2021 fx ho skies and driving while standing on the seat including turning the handle bars from the top of the seat .
