Ive had thermostats go bad on me twice now after sitting 7 mos and through the winter , i have now started pulling them for the long stay putting small plastic bag and storing them indoors for winter. My theory is that the wax inside somehow get compromised and or the mechanism ceases up somewhat from not getting a heat cycle for so long and effects opening/ closing performance .. mainly from the cold .

anyone else doing this ?

at spring start up check engine light came on on port side after warm up , then again out on water putting port engine in Limp mode .. then after replacing T stat star engine same issue .. , FF to following season with 2 brand new T stats in same issue ! again ... no more problems after pulling them and putting back in spring now.
