Anyone have any ideas on adjusting the throttles on a LS2000. I have read a few posts a tried tightening the allan screw but they keep loosening up after a few days of driving. Would like to keep two hands on the steering wheel and it makes it easier for my teenagers to drive the boat so the old man can do some wake boarding.

When I went to adjust mine I found that the plastic tensioners did not work but that the big allen in the middle on the back side tightened them up.

Yes, I tried that but they they have gone back to flopping back down to idle position. I did see that some guys have tried using JB Perma Lock on the allen screw with some success. Maybe I will try that and see what happens.

I also put one side of velcro tape on the underside of the cover that goes over the throttles. When the cover is tightened down, it creates enough friction to hold them in place. I have also had luck by tightening the allen screws but that never lasts for me. Let us know how the loc-tite goes. I have been concerned about taking the allen screw all the way out since I think there is a spring and ball bearing hidden in there somewhere.

I know this is an old post, So im hoping all of you guys have found a solution by now??? I have as well tightened and tightened those alan screws, I have taken this thing apart way to many times. It seems tight super duper tight and then we get on the lake and seriously an hour later one of them starts to get loose again... GRRR- Any suggestions on what to do to get these things to behave so its easier to set it and forget it while pulling someone on the tube or wakeboard?

Did you try using something on the plastic overlay to create friction on the throttles? I used velcro tape and it has worked well.

I was going to try that, Did you happen to take some pics during the process that you could share?

Did you glue it to the bottom of the cover? How long did you do this and has it lasted or have you had to re do it a few times?

Thanks for your help!

sorry, i did not take pics. All I did was use the fuzzy (non loop side) of velcro tape and secure it to the underside of where the plastic cover lays over the throttles. I did this about 2 seasons ago and I have gone in at one point to tighten the allen screws and add a fresh piece of velcro. It works good for me and I think the key will be focus on creating friction against the throttles versus trying to use the allens (which loosen).

I will say that with as fast and as nimble as these boats are, I always keep my hand glued to the throttle since adjustments are necessary but it does help to take the guess work out of keeping the throttle where you want it for pulling wakeboarders, etc.

I just put the velcro on the under side of the plastic overlay as @4x15mph stated he did, Hoefully that works. I will see how it does this week at Shelbyville. They are a PITA to keep from flopping around and having to hold them all the time.

Vc3 is a thread sealant that maybe can help keep your allen bolt from backing out?

I have not tried it on this application, but it seems to work and it can be re positioned. I've used blue loctite before and while it cannot be repositioned it sure holds.

I am giving a lot of thought to finding a "newer" setup going to a 2 lever controls like the newer Yamahas have instead of our old 3 lever. I saw somewhere on here someone had the 2 lever setup on either a LS2000 or LX210.

The two lever set ups are not much better. If anything they are worse and clunkier. I found a gaffrig set on eBay I adapted to my 08 sx230. Keep an eye on eBay there are some used sets that show up every now and then.

I had a seadoo 18ft with an ultra flex 3 lever that was perfect and had no issues. Maybe looking into those as well?

Maybe adding your own friction screw somewhere?

This should be fixable but affects quite a few of these Yamaha boats.

@Jmuir , you have the cover over the throttles, right? Apply downward presssure on the throttles using something like Velcro or maybe something that has even more resistance like rubber/foam or other.

I have tightened up both Allen screws of the throttles it works great then after about 30 minutes to an hour it loosens right up... GRRRR

Would it be possible to use thread locker?
