    Yamaha 195S Saltwater usage/maintenance

263 hrs on original steering cable. Rinsed with fresh water then turn steering wheel to full lock left to right to remove any excess water, then immediately coat with PTFE spray lubricant. Also put fresh water into bilge until bilge pump started to expel water. The biggest issue with rust were...

    2017 Scarab 165G Motor Issue

ok I see possible issues, also that low of hours in 7 years is leading me to suspect the fuel quality again I see boats loose power if they just sit 1 winter with low fuel and your tank is not sealed so moisture gets in the vent and can condense in the tank Also clean the grounds and try...

    Yamaha 195S Saltwater usage/maintenance

On the steering cables for the PTFE spray lubricant could I use the Yamashield Lube that I would be using on the engine compartment?

    2017 Scarab 165G Motor Issue

There's no leaks anywhere. I believe your arrows are pointing out how certain metal parts react to exposure to the Florida air. The boat was near Orlando and my place is about 12 miles from the Atlantic.

    2017 FSH 190 hard start/miss fire/whining noise

Did you clean the main ground wire from the engine? Did you try running with the air cleaner element removed? did you check for exhaust leaks in the engine compartment like loose or rusted clamps to exhaust hoses or other leaks allowing in exhaust fumes?

    salt water people

Actually exhaust clamp doesn't look that bad under the swim platform(although still little rusted) I told the dealer about a "leak" and they blamed on my trim tabs...so I sealed them and it still lets water in. i believe one of the hose and or the clamp has gone bad and spraying water when...

    195s Saltwater Maintenance

@aquilotti1 Congrats on the new boat, Welcome Aboard! Some additional tips... 1) Get a garden sprayer or similar dispenser from HomeDepot/Lowes. Dilute a small amount of Salt-Away/Salt-Off with water. Spray the trailer springs/hubs and lugs after each dunking. The salt will start wreaking...

Looking at purchasing a 190fsh sport

Welcome aboard & to boating in FL! Along with @adrianp89 & @Thermobrett suggestions, looking at the hose clamps in the engine bay & bilge access (might need to use your cell phone to take a brief video via the access hatch). If they show rust, that’s an indication of how well the boat was...

Buying a Yamaha FSH 195 sport, need advice

I get white lithium grease in a spray can and coat everything on the engine and electronics and pump . the white grease coats well stays put and is not even obvious when you look at it prior to that I used silicon spray but you had to do it over frequently. and spray ALL your hose clamps as...

2013 AR190 sitting for 3 years, what to check?

Also check every clamp on all the hoses as they may be rusted and falling off by now

    Water coming in, from where?

If its coming in only during times you're running hard then as mentioned before I would check the intermediate seals, the clamps for the three-way joint of the cooling hoses coming from the pumps can rust and leak or another likely culprit is the thick rubber hose that is connected to the...

Engine Fogging Yamaha 255XD (check Your Boats Engine Compartment for Junk)

10 seconds is a very long time to spray fogging oil in the cylinder, most of the instructions on the cans I have seen say two seconds and move the straw around. Then, leaving the plugs out, with the safety lanyard pulled and a towel over the plug holes engage the starter for about two seconds...

    Yamaha jet boat issues

Like all boats they have their nuances. But by and large they really are dependable boats. Have a 2020 195s and no problems that weren’t easily addressable. Covid created back orders on some parts but other manufacturers, auto makers etc have had to deal with that too. Don’t be discouraged...

    Yamaha jet boat issues

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, and am considering my first jet boat. Reading extensively and watching many videos, I have learned the Yamahas seem to have manufacturing defects and quality control issues, which seem to persist over the years (I am sure many manufacturers have issues as...

    Yamaha jet boat issues

Some of the issues is dealer pre-check/prep, when I got my boat everything is in order, no wood shavings in compartment or loose screws. no leaks. Boaters Exchange in Rockledge have AR190 available. I got mine MSRP + $3K (trailer/prep fee). If you decided to buy highly recommend them, Mike...

Engine Fogging Yamaha 255XD (check Your Boats Engine Compartment for Junk)

Just going off what the tech at Yamaha dealership said on the fogging. I did it, put the plugs in and started it up. Nice spoke out the back and its done. The boat is freshwater, Lake Michigan and has never been in water more shallow than 15 feet so I am guessing that was factory debris...

Finally!! New boat day (well for me😁)!!

As you are running your new cables, do a visual check on the hose clamps in the bilge (via the access port). The exhaust hose clamps have been know to rust and can be a failure point.
