Water in gas from stations on the water- myth or reality

A few years back I waited and filled my 50 gallon tank on the lake (Winnipesaukee) with Valvtec gas; the boat started to act badly a few days later. $100 worth of diagnostics later, I was told 'bad gas', and was charged $10/gallon to get rid of it. I haven't bought gas on the water since.

    Forum upgraded to Xenforo 2.0.12

So, I feel stupid, but I can't figure out how to insert a signature picture. When I am in my 'Profile' and try to 'Edit signature' there is no tab to insert or upload or copy and paste. What am I doing wrong?

    Mooring Whips with narrow dock

I used 8' earth anchors to substitute for pilings or 'U' shape dock and made a 4 way tie-up. About 2.5-3' of the earth anchor shaft is above the bottom, covered with a long enough PVC pipe to protect the boat in a cross wind. I don't know if you have a spot deep enough to float the boat and...

What are you paying for your Yamaha boat insurance?

Ask SkiSafe and BIA to quote your policy. I am paying 1/2 what Geico/Boat US wanted.

    Yamaha Sx190 full Cavas

If you are close to either ocean it should be easy to find a custom boat/awning fabricator. Inland will be a little more difficult; try a local boat dealer and use who they use. That worked for us. The internet is a powerful tool!

    Show me your camper!

Curt makes an extension that when cut to 24" is rated at 600 tongue/6000 total weight; I'm upgrading the Ford factory hitch to a Torklift Magnum so that I can go up to 42" extension for our new heavier boat. Won't see the new boat until August!

We haven't towed the boat yet but we sized the truck for both. 2-1/2 years till retirement!

Who here does thier own shrink wrap?

I re-used mine for 6 years; when the installer first put it on he used straps from my tower to the bow, the cleats front and back, and the center of the swim platform (strap between rear tie downs). There were no other supports. I used straps to re-install for the next 5 years, and finally threw...

    Thrust Vector advice

My wet slip dock at home is at 18-20" depth; in neutral I had zero steering before the Thrust Vectors. If your dock is deep enough, the fins might not be that valuable to you, especially since your new boat will have the 'rudder'. I think trying without will help build handling skills that will...

    Tongue Weight vs Level Trailer

I'm surprised as well. Your tire pressure is equal on both axles? The pad you're working on is level? Both axles at the same height? It seems that if those thing are right, the weight would be evenly distributed between the axles, and the tongue weight would be lower when the trailer is level...

    Bimini top help

When I had my camper enclosure made, the canvas guys had access to custom framing. One guy did it himself, another could get it done to specification. I would be surprised if there wasn't a custom canvas fabricator or 2 near you in Tampa!

Need a name for the new vessel!

I like Firebird! I was with 436 MAC at Dover; saw way too many aluminum boxes come back in C141's. Thank you for your service!
